Land With No Future

I had heard rumblings of VHS Glitch‘s new album on his Facebook page, noting that it was going to be sold on vinyl first and then added to Bandcamp, et al. Well before I knew it I had an email letting me know it was available online, so I quickly went to listen to it.

First impression? Well, unfortunately it left me puzzled. There’s no doubt VHS Glitch had a lot to live up to, as Evil Technology is an incredible album. It’s dark, complex, and always showing something new with each listen. In comparison, Land With No Future seems very straight-forward. I’ll need a few more listens, but this just doesn’t seem like the output of someone ranked high in the synthwave scene and with a fair amount of material already under their belt.
